August Light Painting Photography Contest Winner

September 6, 2012 by Jason D. Page

and the winner is… Georgi Kasabov for his image “Comet”. Georgi is a member of a light painting crew from Bulgaria known as TxO. He made this image with fellow crew member Kreyzee.

The winner took longer to be announced this time due to some issues with the voting process. We have changed the rules from now on to make it more fair for everyone. The theme for next months light painting photography contest is light graffiti. Click here to see the new rules, find out how to enter your image, and WIN your light painting photography prize pack from COAST.

i dont understand y people are saying that this is not light painting.. the creator has manipulated a source of light to create this beautiful picture… first glance at this picture… u actually feel that its a comet.. and then u realize that oh its done using steel wool.. i believe that if the image has not been rotated, it would have lost its charm.. a great work 🙂

This is most certainly light painting and while it is a good photo I personally feel there were many photos that were much better and also better fit the contest but because of how ridiculous the viewer voting was this photo had to win by default. It’s too bad for the people that had much better photos and should have won but didn’t even have a chance because they didn’t abuse the voting system.

        Hi,
Not a member, just a fan.
Justin: OUCH! but better luck next time.
Mark: Why is this not a light painting? I’d be interested to know? I presume it’s not ‘produced’ in photoshop and is a genuine DSLR photo of LED lights in motion…although I do think it may have had some strokes ‘touched up’ or removed, but I’m unsure…..
        expert opinion please?

Martin this is steel wool not leds. Also i doubt it has been photoshopped since the rules for the comp specified “no photoshop”.
