LIGHT PAINT LIVE!

The live light painting game just changed. I have known about the development of this for sometime now and had the hardest time keeping my mouth shut but now I can tell the world….. We have all seen the live light painting videos and we sit back and say damn I wish I was smarter, or if only I knew a computer genius who could make me something so I could do that. Well, well, well, enter Mr. Josh Beckwith, a computer genius at Posit Labs who has a passion for light painting photography. Josh with some help from light painting photographer Joerg Miedza (Half of the former LAPP-PRO) has created Light Paint Live, a very easy to use live light painting program that can give you some pretty awesome results.

Light Paint Live has a multitude of controls that allows you to fine tune your desired look and feel of the light. The possibilities for this software are really endless! You could create your own light painting performance act and head to broadway or simply use it as a realtime display for where you are when creating your own light painting masterpiece.

There are 3 Different Versions of the software available; LPL Instant, LPL Heavy, and LPL Android. Josh also has an iOS version in the works as well as a few more tricks up his sleeve for the future. You can try the LPL Instant for free, the LPL Heavy Version with all the manual controls will cost you 5 Bucks, but it will be the best 5 dollars you have ever spent on any light painting tool.

Pete creates his images in a slightly different way than some other light painters relying more on the senses of sound, touch, and memory. Painting with Light and Strobe Bullet Time

Check out this super cool animation of 3D light painting photography using a Bullet Time Rig. This video is going viral, great exposure for light painting!

After 3 months shooting on location with the bullet time rig around China, it’s great tobe back in the studio experimenting.
Splice Boys: Tom Brandon, Richard Kendall and Crew,
– 96 camera rig, 30s sequential exposure.
– A lot of running around with lights.
– Also combining manual and pulsing strobe flash.

April Light Painting Photography Entries

Here are the entries for the April light painting photography contest. Everyone PLEASE VOTE in the comment section of the page to pick your top 3 images, the images all have a number in the title (EXAMPLE… IF ONE OF YOUR FAVORITES IS THE IMAGE TITLED “APRIL CONTEST 07″ THEN YOU SHOULD PUT THE NUMBER 7 AS ONE OF YOUR CHOICES).  I received around 50 entries this month and only the 11 images below followed the theme of the contest which was to create a light painting image using the light painting photography logo. Voting ends on the 1st.

Oh and P.S. Voters that do not include 3 unique choices in their post will not be counted. In other words no 1,1,1, or 5,5,5, or 22,22,22…..Please pick your three favorite IMAGES based on the image alone.

Lichtfaktor “Shine a Light for Nature” Light Painting Video

Check out this fresh new Lichtfaktor Light Painting Video: “Shine a Light for Nature”.

Lichtfaktor: We did this light painting video with all our friends in 4 long and cold nights in cologne (our home town).
For us it was one of the most creative, funny and interesting time, the Chines production company became friends with us.
Now we hope to come as soon as possible to China…;)
Special thanks to the genius Mr. JJ, Raymond and his Team, dENiZEN and to all our friends/painters, we definitely have to do this again.

The Video has won the “the German Web Video Award 2012” in the Jury and Audience Price category AAA (Academy Approved Art).
