Kaki King – “Pull Me Out Alive” Music Video

February 11, 2011 by Jason D. Page

This is an older light painting video but a damn good one. Kaki King’s “Pull Me Out Alive” music video was shot on some very cold nights in New York City back in 2008. The final video is comprised of over 2700 individual light painting photographs. The crew began shooting around 6 P.M. as soon as the sun went down and worked for several nights until 6 in the morning. The nights were so cold that a hot cup of coffee would freeze in 5 minutes if left out in the elements. The making of this light painting video was put together nicely check them both out below.

The Lights We Use

February 3, 2011 by Jason D. Page

This is a new light painting video tutorial by Trevor Williams and Fiz-iks about the lights used to create their magic. I really like the way these light painting tutorials are put together, they are informative and entertaining at the same time. Trevor has a whole series of these videos planned so stay tuned for more as they become available! View the first video in the series HERE.

Here is a brief run down of the type of lights we use for light painting. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments. Read about our gear on our homepage at http://www.fiz-iks.com/gear

Nowhere Near Here, Light Painting

January 30, 2011 by Jason D. Page

If life is a catwalk, run like a dog.

‘Nowhere Near Here’ is a stop motion animation that uses a combination of light with stencils and long exposure photography to tell the story of a dog running around the city at night, doing whatever a dog does. The animation was first exhibited at the The Herbert, in Coventry, on the 7th October 2010.

With well over 300 hours in the making, more than 200 stencils involved and too many cold nights spent outside on my knees getting the shots, I am very happy (and relieved) to finally share this with you. Through the course of shooting ‘Nowhere Near Here’, I have dealt with curious drunks, a dog almost peeing on the camera (the irony is not lost on me, haha), the endlessly suspicious police and even someone nearly running off with a tripod.

This is street art, this is life and thank you for watching.

…for those of you that may be interested in prints, a selection of film stills from ‘Nowhere Near Here’ are currently available at pahnl.co.uk/store.php
