Fire Rain Tutorial

Fire Rain Light Painting Tutorial by Van Elder

You thought you were doing something special with your old steel wool on a string? Well, in this Light Painting Photography Tutorial, Barry Elder takes things to another level—creating actual Fire Rain using a custom-built Sparkle Poi.

Barry Elder of Van Elder Photography was inspired by photographic superstar Von Wong and combined that with some technical fire skills from Tamed Fire on YouTube. The result? A unique tool and a jaw-dropping fire effect for long exposure photography. Thankfully, Barry also created a step-by-step video tutorial for those who want to learn without all the trial and error.

⚠️ WARNING: This technique is highly dangerous. Use at your own risk, and please don’t burn yourself—or your house—down unless that’s your plan because you need the insurance money. (But seriously—don’t.)
