This link was sent in by light painter James Bear. Frank Gilbreth was the first person to ever create a light painting image. He created the image to study the movements of workers in what he called “Work Simplification Studies”. By attaching a small light to the workers hands and tools he used the open shutter of a camera to trace their movements. He then made models of the movements and found that a trained worker had a much smoother motion and made for a more productive employee.

Anybody know if the 3D light painting look created in this video is legit? It looks like its the real thing…. if it is legit anybody who did it, maybe PIPSLAB? Please post answers if u got em in the comments section, I would like to find out more about this cool little number….. Thanks.

November Light Painting Contest Entries

Nocturne and the Ultimate LPP Compliment
Light painting artist Nocturne just did Light Painting Photography the ultimate compliment he got the LPP logo tattooed on his body! I designed the light painting photography logo with my dear friend and fellow artist LJ Oleary. LJ also happens to be the Brand Manager over at Rusty so I called him to let him know of the honor Chris had bestowed upon us.
The conversation went something like this…
JP ∇ Hey Joseph guess what one of your favorite light painters just did?
LJ ∇ Who?
JP ∇ Nocturne
LJ ∇ What?
JP ∇He got the LPP logo tattooed on himself.
LJ ∇ Are you fucking kidding me… You mean the kind of art that doesn’t disappear after the lights turn off, but the very lifetime, mother fucking permanent shit that means you are really feeling raw about this subject and therefore must have it eternally on your being?
JP ∇ Yep. That’s the honor Nocturne just did us.

LJ ∇ What a huge fucking compliment, I am so flattered my dude. That guy is a legend and he did what?” “Seriously? I am so alive right now, never saw my artwork on that medium and knew that someone would want to keep it with them like, foreva! This shit is so cool, tell him I just got the hugest boner please.” And so here I am, on the phone talking about tattoos and boners. Truth is, we all have boners over here in the states for Nocturne.
Needless to say we are both tremendously grateful that Nocturne would find the LPP logo important enough to ink on himself and we both thank him for the honor. Now to live up to it.
