About Jason D. Page – Founder of Light Painting Photography

My name is Jason D. Page and I am a passionate light painter. LightPaintingPhotography.com was born from my love and obsession with Light Painting Photography. I created this site as an educational platform to share the art form I love and to inspire others to explore the creative possibilities of Light Painting.

I’ve been a photographer since the late 1990s, but I always had images in my mind that I couldn’t quite capture—until one winter night in 2004. While shooting a long exposure of the ocean, I accidentally bumped my camera. When I reviewed the shot, the moon had created a streak across the sky. In that moment, everything clicked. I began experimenting with drawing using moonlight, and from that point forward, I’ve been a Light Painter.

In my pursuit of learning, I documented everything I could find about Light Painting. By 2009, I noticed the rising online interest and realized it was time to share what I had learned. That’s when I began building LightPaintingPhotography.com.

I reached out to the world’s greatest Light Painters—some friends, some strangers—inviting them to be part of a website dedicated to the promotion and progression of the art form. Most artists were excited to be included, and after over a year of gathering artist info and images, I launched the site in late 2010.

The response has been amazing. I never imagined the site would gain so much traction or connect me with so many incredible Light Painters around the world. The friendships I’ve formed and the thank-you emails I receive have made every ounce of effort worthwhile.

Please remember—I’m a Light Painter first, not a web designer or journalist! So if you spot typos or design flaws, be gentle. If you have ideas, questions, or feedback, send me an email.
