Light Painting at Duke University, Vlog 62

May 15, 2024 by Jason D. Page

This is the vlog of our 2024 Light Painting Presentation at Duke University! My fellow Light Painters and I were asked to give a presentation on our love of Light Painting sharing how we use Light itself as the medium to create our artwork. There were many parts of our presentation including a table/booth we had set up sharing the Light Painting Brushes tools as well as sharing images we created with them. I gave a short talk sharing that Light Painting is its own independent art from separate from photography, we gave a demonstration of Light Painting techniques, August Burns had a laser light show and we created live Light Painting Portraits.

Light Painting Tutorial – Slow Down Your Movements

May 15, 2024 by Jason D. Page

This is an excerpt from Light Painting Photography VLOG 60 that I felt needed its own post as this is a very common question in the Light Painting Photography community. I am calling it a Light Painting Photography Tutorial but it is really just hitting on one major point! Slowing down your movements with your light source can dramatically change the look and feel of your Light Painting Photography work.

Every Light Painting is a recipe, the ingredients are:
Camera settings.
Lumen output of your light source .
The speed at which you move.
Changing any one of these three ingredients can dramatically change the look and feel of your Light Painting work. If you have adjusted your camera to the settings you want to use, you have your brightest light source to work with and your images are not as bright as you would like one simple solution is to slow down your movements!

Light Painting Vlog 60, Jordan Lake North Carolina

May 15, 2024 by Jason D. Page

In this episode of the Light Painting Photography Vlog I stop at Poplar Point campground at Jordan Lake in North Carolina. I find a great campsite on the water and create some Light Paintings right in the back of my camp. I explore the area a little bit and show some of the spots that could be good for Light Painting Photography at night. During my Light Painting I have an interesting event happen while Light Writing my Fallen World Light Writing. My camera mysteriously falls over and then my tripod breaks, if you look closely you can see eyes looking at me in the top right corner of the frame just after the camera falls. When I wake up in the morning my campsite is trashed, it was an interesting experience to say the least. John 3:16 🙂
